History of the Hunter Army Airfield

The Hunter Army Airfield started out in the 1940s, when it was just a barren land with a nearby town with not a lot of resources. During this decade, the land with which the Hunter Army Airfield stands today was bought for the purpose and the interest of the American Government. It is only with coincidence or through pure intent that this facility was used aid in the war efforts of the United States during the Second World War.

Since the second world war, the Hunter Army Airfield became the training facility of the Air Force and other military installations as wars and other international political unrest progressed. The soldiers that have trained under the Hunter Army Airfield did not only witness the Second World War. Some of them were deployed to Korea during the Korean War, and others have been active during the political unrest of Russia and America during the cold war. In the 90s, the Hunter Army Airfield is the airfield responsible for deploying soldiers to the Gulf War. Today, the Hunter Army Field, which is now collectively known as Team Stewart, together with Fort Stewart and Kelley Hill, is home to the men and women who are winning the war against terror which was spurred by the September 11 attacks.
